If you were planning on taking a holiday to Mumbai, New Delhi, Paris or London and bought your tickets from Air Asia X, then you might be in for a rude shock today.

Just over an hour ago, Air Asia posted the following message on their Facebook page:

Citing soaring taxes and higher jet fuel prices for the route realignment, Air Asia X followed up their surprise announcement with an assurance that existing ticket holders for flights after the affected dates would be offered an alternative travel option at no additional cost to mitigate the inconvenience caused as a result of these route withdrawals.

Although we don’t know exactly what alternative travel options mean, we suspect that they could be offloading ticket holders to other budget airlines. But don’t take our word for it if this announcement affects your immediate travel plans, and head on over to your nearest Air Asia ticketing office to make sure for yourself. Alternatively, you could get on the phone for RM1.95 per minute on theirpremium customer service line at 600 85 9999 or visit their online customer service website at http://www.askairasia.com.
