While it was not an actual launch event or anything close to it, Celcom has finally shed more lights on its 4G LTE service through a briefing with members of the media last Friday. For starters, Celcom Axiata Berhad’s Chief Marketing Officer, Zalman Aefendy Zainal Abidin has confirmed that the telco will be rolling out the service to Klang Valley, Penang and Johor by mid 2013.

Additionally, the pricing and contractual plans for the Celcom 4G LTE service will be revealed before Chinese New Year. The presentation slides featured all Huawei LTE devices that are currently being used at Celcom 4G LTE experience zones in Menara Celcom and Blue Cube Sunway Pyramid such as E392u-6 USB modem, CPE B593 router, Media 10 FHD tablet and Ascend P1 LTE smartphone.

Zalman has stated that the modem and tablet will be among the first devices to be offered as part of Celcom’s 4G LTE plans. However, Celcom 4G LTE will be a data-only service for the time being and no mention on when exactly will the telco be able to offer Voice over LTE service to consumer.
