GoPro has just announced a recall for its first-ever drone, the Karma. According to the company, the recall is done after it was discovered that “Karma units lost power during operation.” Naturally, the company added that this only happened in a small number of cases.

Although only about 2,500 units of the Karma – that’s basically all of them – are affected by this recall, it will certainly impact GoPro as a brand. After all, this is the company’s very first drone, and it has a lot to prove with the Karma; this recall definitely isn’t helping GoPro accomplish that.

Many consumers are comparing the Karma to DJI’s Mavic Pro, which is more compact and boasts better features over the former. On top of that, DJI is renowned for its expertise with drones, while the Karma is only GoPro’s first entry into the drone market.

Despite this recall, GoPro mentioned that it plans to “resume shipment of the Karma once the issue is addressed,” although the company did not detail any specific timeline. Regardless, it will be interesting to see if the issue can be resolved fast enough for the Karma to be launched in Malaysia sometime next year.
