After two days of non-stop action, The Asia featuring Dota 2 and NVIDIA’s FIFA 13 Tournament at The Games Xpo (TGX) Malaysia have finally come to their conclusion. 10 Dota 2 teams from all over the region as well as close to 50 FIFA 13 players brought their skills to KL Convention Centre in pursuit of more than RM 45,000 worth of cash prizes. Once the dust settles, the champion of the first ever edition of The Asia eventually goes to LGD Gaming of China. As one of the tournament’s favourite, their dominance in The Asia is rather expected although interestingly, they actually lost to Malaysia’s own powerhouse MuFC Dota during group stage. Both teams then meet once again in the grand finals and while MuFC stepped into the grand finals with a full clean sheet after defeating all teams that are in their way including another well-known Malaysian team – Orange eSports – in the semi-finals, LGD ultimately won the match with a score of 2 – 0. The 2nd Runner Up title eventually goes to Orange eSports who defeated MiTH-Trust of Thailand for the spot. As for NVIDIA FIFA 13 Tournament, the final outcome was rather unexpected as a newcomer named Jeremy managed to outdo all of the participants including ESWC Malaysia’s FIFA champions [MyFES]Warrior and leomes who finished the event at 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner Up spots respectively. Despite being relatively unknown player prior to the tournament, Jeremy pretty much dominated the competition right from the group stage till the end.
