Pardon us if it we seemed that we paid too much attention to the Ford Focus ST but truth to be told, we still haven’t forget about the base model – the new 2012 Ford Focus. In general, the new 2012 Ford Focus for the Malaysian market is available in two variant: the 4 door sedan (called Titanium) and the 5-door hatchback (called Sport). Each variant is then further divided into two models: standard and +. At a glance, you can’t really spot the difference between both models with exception of physical features such as sunroof and bi-Xenon headlamps that are only available on + models. What really separate them apart are these two technologies: first (and most probably the most well-known) is theActive Park Assist which helps drivers parallel park their Focus hands-free and second, the Active City Stoplow-speed safety system – both which are only available on the + models . The Titanium+ model also comes with an extra feature called Blind Spot Information System which is essentially a warning light on its side mirror that would alert the driver when it detects a vehicle in the driver’s blind spot. That being said, both standard and + models still share a lot of features with each other such as Ford Sync integrated communication and entertainment system as well as Active Grille Shutter, Electronic Stability Programme modules, Torque Vectoring Control, Electronic Power-Assisted Steering Control and Intelligent Access Push Button Start. Not to forget, they also shared the same the Duratec 2.0 Ti-VCT GDi engine – which delivers 167.67bhp at 6500rpm, 202Nm of torque at 4450rpm and combined fuel consumption that is rated at 6.6 litre/100km – and the new six-speed Ford PowerShift automatic transmission. The new 2012 Ford Focus is covered by Ford Extended Service plan which provides free 3-years or 60,000km maintenance program that includes free parts and labour, in addition to Ford’s 5-years or 200,000km bumper-to-bumper new vehicle warranty. Readily available at all Ford showrooms throughout Malaysia, the 2012 Ford Focus is priced at RM 115,888 for standard Titanium and Sport models while the Titanium+ and Sport+ variants are priced at RM 128,888.
