There were a lot of drones on showcase at CES 2017. So many, in fact, that there were dedicated areas for this product category. While the amount of drones at the convention hall were overwhelming, one particularly interesting drone got our attention: the Bionic Bird.

As its name suggests, the Bionic Bird is a drone in the shape of a bird. It doesn’t even look like a bird; it flies like one too. While we didn’t actually see the Bionic Bird in action – it wasn’t allowed to fly in the convention hall – it certainly looks lifelike in demo videos.

As for flight time, the Bionic Bird can fly for up to eight minutes on a single charge; users can opt to get an “egg” – which is really a power bank – with the birdlike drone to charge it up for about 12 times. Of course, a standard power bank can also be used in lieu of the egg. Other than that, the Bionic Bird also has a range of 100m range and a top speed of 20kmph.

Like many drones in the market now, the Bionic Bird can be controlled with an app for Android and iOS devices. The best part is, the drone isn’t restricted for outdoor usage only: the Bionic Bird can be flown indoors too with its tail set to Slow mode.
