Use your phone to go online all the time? Think you’re the buziest person ever just because you’re always “connected”? Well, admit it, you’re only connected to Facebook aren’t you? Alright, maybe not, but I do know some people like that who pays a full internet plan just to access Facebook maybe once a day. If you’re one of those who already have Wi-Fi at home, at work and are hardly out and about for the need of an expensive data plan on your mobile, Maxis has recently introduced its Facebook Internet Plans targeted at, well, those who only visits their Facebook. Going off from as low as RM3, you can opt for a 2 days, 5 days or 10 days pass which offers 10MB, 25MB and 75MB of data quota respectively. But do be careful, even with the largest quota of 75MB, it’s actually very little so don’t even dream of accessing the full Facebook site (www.facebook.com). The plan is only applicable for Facebook Java Application and if you visit m.facebook.com on your mobile device. It is also not available for those accessing Facebook via Facebook app on your iOS, Android and Blackberry devices. Another thing to note is that if you exceed the quota given, you’ll be charged on a pay-per-use basis at RM0.10/10KB. Just to be safe, you can track on your expiry and usage by dialing *100#, select “Internet and Settings”, “Facebook Internet Plans” and choose “Check Status”. According to the FAQ page, Maxis also mentioned that an SMS will be sent to you once you’ve hit 80% and 100% of your quota allowance. Judging by the fact that it’s only applicable for Facebook Java app, the Facebook Internet Plan from Maxis seems to be targeting non-smartphone users, so whip out your old Nokia, install Facebook and make it smarter instantly.
