The BlackBerry Leap will be arriving in Malaysia next week, and pre-orders for the device have already started on 11street. As a full touch interface alternative to the BlackBerry Classic, the Leap is aimed at young professionals and combines long battery life and advanced security features.

BlackBerry’s new operating system, BB 10.3.1 comes preloaded with the BlackBerry Leap, and offers a refreshed look with updated icons and action bar. It also includes the new BlackBerry Assistant, which is the company’s answer to Siri and Cortana. It provides voice commands for the usual selection of apps, including email, contacts, calendar, and notes.

The BlackBerry Leap packs a Qualcomm 8960 dual core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 2GB RAM, 16GB internatl storage, and a 5-inch 1280 x 720 LCD display. It is LTE capable and has a microSD slot that supports cards up to 128GB for additional storage options.

Consumers will be able to buy the BlackBerry Leap at an RRP of RM1089 which includes GST. The device will be available from BlackBerry authorised partners: Celcom, Maxis Enterprise, and Tune Talk. Digi was notably missing from the list of vendors, and BlackBerry has only stated that the telco has not yet confirmed whether it will be carrying the BlackBerry Leap.
