Kingston’s HyperX range of storage solutions have always been pushing boundaries in terms of performance. The company’s latest product, unveiled at CES today, might just be the epitome of overkill. The DataTraveler HyperX Predator 3.0 is a USB 3.0 flash drive with 1TB of storage. Yup, you read that right. One terabyte in a flash drive.

The new line of HyperX Predator 3.0 flash drives also include 512GB as well as more sensible 64GB and 32GB editions. The main difference here is that the 1TB and 512GB editions have greater read/write speeds of up to 240MB/s and 160MB/s compared to 150MB/s and 70MB/s for the 64GB and 32GB versions. To help protect user data, the HyperX Predator 3.0 is made from zinc alloy metal for increased shock resistance and quality.

So, what’s the damage? While the 1TB edition will ship sometime in this quarter, its price has not been announced. However, if the 512GB version’s $1750 price tag is anything to go by…it will be pretty expensive, to say the least.
