First introduced to the world through NVIDIA’s Tegra roadmap at MWC 2011, the details of NVIDIA’s next Tegra mobile processor – codenamed “Wayne” – has been leaked to the wild. Being the next chip in line after the existing Tegra 3, one can expect the new Tegra 4 to offer more firepower for future mobile devices. Still featuring the chip’s signature 4-PLUS-1 core architecture, Tegra 4 will be equipped with 72 GPU cores – an increase of 60 cores as compared to existing Tegra 3 processor. Furthermore, the new chip is said to be able to encode and decode at full 1440p (2560×1440) resolution together with native support for USB 3.0 as well as dual-channel DDR3L RAM. There was no mention of the chip’s clock speed and its availability but since we are just weeks from the upcoming Consumer Electronic Show 2013, we expect NVIDIA will be releasing more information about Tegra 4 at the event.
