Malaysia Airlines certainly has gone a long way since its inception 40 years ago and as part of its anniversary celebration this year, the company has decided to pay homage to its history – by draping one of its aircraft in the original livery that the company used back in 1972. Officially unveiled to the world yesterday, the chosen aircraft – a Boeing 737-800 – will begin to fly with the retro livery from today onwards starting with the journey to Jakarta and Bangkok.

The carrier didn’t forget to document the painting process which you can see below:

The company didn’t stop there: the in-flight meals on flights operated by the aircraft will feature special menus that consist of “evergreen” dishes that Malaysia Airlines has served throughout the years. Too bad Malaysia Airlines didn’t go  further by installing retro deco inside the aircraft and gives retro uniforms for the flight crews which would definitely make the experience more awesome.
