The iMac has always been at the forefront of the All-In-One PC space, innovating with each of the 7 generations to constantly be a desirable system, for both Mac and PC users alike. At the Apple keynote that finished just a few hours ago, the 8th Generation iMac is no different. With news and speculation of the iPad mini littering the inter webs, the announcement of the new iMac came as a surprise to many including myself who, without Chapree’s suggestion this afternoon, would not have even thought of it.

So what makes the new iMac that much better than the previous generation, or even its PC counterparts from other manufacturers? For starters, the edge is 5mm thin. Think of the previous iMac and put it on one heck of a diet, there you have the 8th generation iMac. Thanks to a slew of design and manufacturing innovations, the new iMac is extremely svelte and sexy as all heck.

Coming in at 21.5 and 27inch models, the new iMacs are all IPS panels, with technology to make it up to 75% less reflective, making it a photographers best friend. Another great addition is that every panel is calibrated off the factory floor, which is another nod to the creatives who favour the iMac as a main workstation.

The new iMacs come with the latest Intel ivy bridge processors starting with a 2.7GHz quad core i5 up to a 3.2GHz quad-core i5 (stock configurations), 8GB of RAM (up to 32GB on the 27incher), 1TB HDD (Upgradable to the new Fusion drives or 768GB SSD) as well as the NVIDIA Kepler GT640M to the GTX680MX. All the iMacs come with 4 USB3.0 ports, 2 Thunderbolt ports, an SDXC slot and Gigabit Ethernet. Gone is the slot loading optical drive but there is a USB drive that Apple sell anyway. Best of all, the iMac’s are all decently priced at RM3,999 for the entry level 21.5incher and up to RM6,199 for the top of the range 27Incher. The new iMacs will be available in November and December respectively.
