One of the most glaring omissions of the Windows Phone operating system since its inception was the lack of a notification centre – a feature which pulls notifications from all installed apps from one easily accessible location. Of course, Windows Phone has Live Tiles which eliminates the need for such a feature – but the problem arises when an app isn’t pinned to the Start screen, where a notification will not appear after its initial trigger.

However, at the Build conference, Microsoft’s Thomas Fennel admitted that it was a feature that they are “thinking very very hard” on implementing. Further, he admitted that it was currently missing in WP8 simply because they ran out of time. However, with the amount of feedback coming from the developers, we might just be seeing the feature being introduced soon.
