The Tello drone, developed by Ryze Robotics in partnership with DJI, is now available for pre-order in Malaysia. Launched just last month globally, the tiny drone is an entry-level product designed for the education sector.

The pre-order prices we’ve found on Lazada, at less than RM450, isn’t too far off from the $99 RRP in the US. Two merchants on the platform are taking in pre-orders at RM447 and RM448, with an estimated arrival time of 15-31 March 2018. They are covered by a one-year warranty from DJI Malaysia, offering some peace of mind.

The Tello is powered by an unspecified Intel processor, and which can access flight programs made with Scratch – a visual programming language and tool developed by MIT and aimed at kids.

Out of the box, the Tello can already do impressive actions such as 360-degree flips, throw-to-activate and even bounce mode. With a 100 metre transmission range, it transmits HD footage using 802.11n WiFi connection to a smartphone running the Tello app.

With a 13-minute flight-time, collision detection and a 720p camera on the front, it is not a cinematic drone platform, but is perfect for first time drone flyers.
