With the Nexus 7 tablet, Google aimed it as a tablet that does not skimp on performance, but keeping the price low enough for the masses. However, Google lacked a truly exquisite flagship tablet to rival the iPad (3rd gen, 4th gen, you name it – they’re still the tablets to beat). Now, however, they truly have something quite special on their hands. Forget for a moment, the Exynos 5 chipset. Forget the 2GB of RAM, a battery slated for nine hours of video playback, or even the guarantee of being the one of the first to run Android 4.2, as well as the first to get OS updates. The Samsung-made Google Nexus 10 tablet has a 10.1-inch screen packing a mind-blasting 2560 x 1600 resolution. Of course, the rumours were already mentioning those numbers, but we had our doubts on whether it was even possible. To put it in perspective, the new 27-inch iMac has fewer pixels than this 10.1-inch tablet. Further, with a pixel density of around 300, the Nexus 10 well and truly beats the Retina display iPad, which “only” has a pixel density of 264. And then, there’s the Exynos 5 chipset. One of the first to utilise the Cortex A15 architecture, the one found here is a 1.7GHz dual-core processor with a Mali T-604 quad-core GPU. Early benchmarks are already putting it at the very top of the tables, so the Nexus 10 is definitely no slouch. Finally, the Nexus 10 will be available in 16GB and 32GB variants, going for $399 (roughly RM1200) and $499 (roughly RM1500) respectively. With a combination of unbeatable price and finally, flagship-worthy hardware, Google’s new Nexus 10 tablet is well and truly in a league of its own among Android tablets, and gives the iPad a run for its money.
