Since the company decided to enter our consumer market in 2011, Huawei‘s brand recognition among Malaysian consumers has steadily growing. Hence, the company obviously has no intention to stop anytime soon and has aim to expand its reach in our market even further in 2014. To do that, Huawei Malaysia’s Country Director for Consumer Business Group, Gary Xu has announced the company’s plan to open several flagship stores in Kuala Lumpur this year.
Gary also pointed out that the company is considering several other key locations outside of Kuala Lumpur as well. In addition to these flagship stores, Huawei Malaysia is also planning to open around 100 store-within-a-store and 500 kiosks throughout the country. Huawei Malaysia will also increase its marketing effort for 2014 which will include more ground activities and promotions. Not to forget, the company is also planning to release more flagship models here in Malaysia although Gary didn’t actually mention the name of these products. Given the timing, it is most probably too early for him to reveal these products anyway but we definitely believe that these products will included some of the new devices (if not all) that Huawei will launch at MWC 2014 next week. All in all, expect to see an increased presence of Huawei in Malaysia this year. Meanwhile, do you feel that having flagship stores will be able to help Huawei increase the awareness for its products here in Malaysia? Let us know through the comment section below.
