And the slew of next-generation iPhone posts are in full swing again with talks this time about the screen size of the “iPhone 5”. According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple’s suppliers, Cupertino are placing orders for new iPhone displays that measure “at least 4 inches diagonally”. Production is said to be starting next month. WSJ has identified LG display, Sharp and Japan Display Inc as the 3 major panel suppliers that Apple is contracting. A change in the legacy 3.5inch display is a no-brainer as the world’s average screen size goes up. Considering that phones are now at 4.7inches, staying put at 3.5 on your flagship model is a huge risk for a consumer market with the need for screen real estate. I think there is a limit to how many more pixels you can squeeze into a screen now before you’re squinting at everything right? My prediction is that Apple will not go over 4.3inches and perhaps stick to a 4inch size for the next iPhone. Personally, I don’t find large phones to be comfortable, but now as I think about it, 3.5inches is just way too small. What do you think?
