You would expect manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, HTC and Sony to come up with the World’s slimmest phone wouldn’t you? Sorry to disappoint, but the world’s slimmest phone, unveiled at CES 2012, is from Huawei. Showing off the Huawei Ascend P1 S at CES, the phone measures at only 6.68mm thin; for comparison’s sake, the Samsung Galaxy S II measures at 8.4mm thin and the iPhone 4S is 9.3mm thin.

Packing a 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4460 Cortex-A9 processor under its 4.3” Super AMOLED display, the Ascend P1 S (why can’t they have a shorter name??) will run on none other than the Android 4.0 ICS operating system.

“We’re excited to unveil the world’s slimmest smartphone here at CES 2012. The Ascend P1 S demonstrates our ongoing commitment to innovating high quality devices that utilizes the latest hardware and software technologies.” – Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei Device.

The company also unveiled its Ascend P1 which is almost the same as its thin brother, except it packs a thicker profile of 7.69mm. Both these devices are available in metallic black, ceramic white and even cherry-blossom pink and according to Huawei, more colors will be available in the future.

Other specifications include 8MP rear camera with dual-flash, 1080p video capability, 1670/1800 mAh battery, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of storage. Both the Ascend P1 and P1 S are expected to be available in Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America, Australia, Middle East, and China from April 2012.
