It looks like the first smartphone to be powered by Intel will be produced by none other than Lenovo, but don’t get too excited yet, the device will only be available in China later this year. Intel announced its surprise at CES, showing off the Lenovo K800 Intel Medfield smartphone which carries a 4.5” display and runs on a highly modified version of Android (Gingerbread). More importantly, the processor is a 1.6GHz Intel Medfield processor.

What you’ll get with this phone, apart from a brand new processor making its debut, is a completely revamped interface like no other Android device you’ve seen before which is great for a change. Of course, it’s still running on Gingerbread, no words have been mentioned with regards to whether it’ll be blessed with Ice Cream Sandwich update when it becomes available.

Other specifications include a 720p TFT display, 8MP rear camera with a maximum sensitivity of ISO 3200. It also packs all the usual stuffs you get with smartphones nowadays such as 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS connectivity. Check out a video hands-on experience from Engadget.
