In case you didn’t know, Astro has a separate pricing policy for its home and commercial customers. In another words, your favourite mamak establishments, hangout spots and hotels actually paid differently for their Astro subscriptions as compared to what you fork out for your home. In fact, Astro actually charges its commercial customers between RM 20 to RM 150 per individual channels while home users are charged according to the packages that they subscribed to. However, that changed recently as Astro has now started to offer channel packages for commercial establishments and hotels.
According to Astro, among entities that are considered as commercial establishments include food & beverage outlets, government institutions, financial service, SME and offices, retail outlets, education centres, healthcare, wellness, beauty and lifestyle centres; and last but not least, embassies. In terms of pricing, it starts from as low as RM 100 for packages such as Savers Pack, News Mini and Kids Mini. Not surprisingly, the most expansive package in the list is the Premium Sports Pack which contains seven sports channels at a cost of RM 650. The Premium Sports Pack is also one of the packages that are HD-enabled although this depends on whether the establishment itself can be wired to receive HD broadcast or otherwise. For hotels, hospitals, serviced residences, training centres, and vessels, the packages are structured in a different manner. Such establishments are able to choose any of the listed three Deluxe Packs with a starting price of RM 45 onwards although only Deluxe Pack 2 and 3 are HD-enabled beginning this November. Of course, customers are still free to select and pay for individual channels as per Astro’s previous policy if they are more comfortable with that. Meanwhile, Astro has also stated that there is actually a minimum commitment period of 2 years for the commercial establishment packages and 3 years for the hotel packs.
