[Update] The deal has sold out; there were only 10 units on offer.

Groupon Malaysia rarely offers good deals for electronics products; just take a look at the recent Mi 4 and OnePlus One deal and you’ll see a pattern across the site. But this one, for the highly desirable Xiaomi Mi TV 2, seems like a pretty sweet deal.

The Mi TV 2, which was announced earlier this year for Xiaomi’s native Chinese market, is a high-end 4K 3D TV. Using a 3820 x 2160 3D panel by LG Display, the Mi TV 2 also packs a quad-core processor, Mali 450 GPU and 2GB of RAM. There’s even 8GB of internal storage, and all these combine to run MIUI TV, Xiaomi’s Android-based OS for its smart TVs.

Not only that, the TV itself looks amazing. With a breathtakingly slim 6.2mm bezel and a frame that’s just 15.5mm thick, it is unfathomable how Xiaomi has priced this at just 3999 Yuan – that’s only about RM2100. Considering that Xiaomi also bundles a wireless sound bar and 120W subwoofer with each Mi TV 2, we are still at a loss for words on just how spectacularly cheap this is for a 4K 3D smart TV.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi has made no indication that the Mi TV 2 will be available anywhere outside of China, where Xiaomi even offers delivery and initial setup for Mi TV 2 owners in selected cities.

We’ve been tracking third-party offers for a while, and more recently the most promising one in our forums proved fruitless, but it appears the popular third-party smartphone reseller DirectD has been selling the Mi TV 2 in limited batches for some time.

And, with Groupon working closely with DirectD recently, the Mi TV 2 is now offered as a deal on Groupon Malaysia’s website. So, how much for a Mi TV 2? RM2799. Units appear to be very limited, and may be sold out by the time you read this. Nevertheless, head on to the promo page here to see if you’re lucky enough to grab one. [Update] Gosh, that was fast. All units of the Mi TV 2 offered by Groupon has been snapped; it is now sold out, unfortunately. Bummer.

Oh, but do note that there is virtually no warranty provided for the TV – there’s just a 7-day warranty from Groupon Malaysia.
