Still patiently waiting for the iPhone 5 to be launched here in Malaysia? So are we, after many rumored Fridays, it looks like it’s not going to happen yet and if you can’t wait to get a new iPhone or don’t care about the slightly longer new iPhone, DiGi is now offering a 16GB iPhone 4S for only RM499. Valid from 7 to 30 November 2012, the promotion is available with a 24 months contract under DiGi i138 that comes with 3GB of data, 450 free minutes, 400 free SMS and 40 free MMS. Just so you know, the 16GB iPhone 4S now retails at RM1,799. For comparison sake, when the iPhone 4S was launched here in Malaysia last December, the 16GB unit was offered by DiGi at RM2,090 however, instead of paying RM138/month, you’ll only need to pay RM88/month (with autobilling). This works out to a total of about RM4,202. The total cost of ownership for this new offer can get you the iPhone 4S for RM3,811. Additionally, the calling rates for this i138 has also been revised from 12sen/min to 15sen/min.
If you’re not too keen on signing up with DiGi, Maxis recently also have a new promotion for the 16GB iPhone 4S in conjunction with its new postpaid plan – Maxis SurfMore. Check out this post for more information about SurfMore or hit the break for a price comparison.
Do note that while Maxis may seem to be cheaper, it does not come with any free minutes or messages. If you’re someone who calls and text a lot, DiGi sounds like a pretty good deal too because 450 minutes + 400 SMS + 40 MMS are worth RM115.5/month according to DiGi’s rate.
