That’s right folks, the iPhone 4 is still alive and if you’re not into the latest products from Apple, you can land your hands on the most basic iPhone in the market now for as low as RM499 from Maxis (8GB unit). The telco is now offering the 8GB iPhone 4 with its TalkMore plans – TalkMore 28 as well as TalkMore48. All you need to do is sign up for a 24 months contract under one of these plans, along with a Mobile Internet plan of 1GB and 3GB respectively and you can get it at a subsidized price. For your information, the 8GB iPhone 4 is also available for sale on Apple’s website for RM1,499. The offer is shown as below:
More information available over at Maxis (screenshot available after the break). According to the telco, the deal is also available with TextMore28, we assume that the details will be the same as TalkMore28 except instead of 200 free minutes and 100 free SMS, you get 200 free SMS and 100 free talk time instead. For those of you who want the iPhone 4S instead, Maxis is offering the 16GB iPhone 4S with its SurfMore plans. DiGi recently also offered a promotion with its iPhone 4S. Payment wise, while you may get the device at a subsidized price, you’ll need an advance payment of RM1,000 so RM499 may seem like a cheap deal but together with RM1,000 advance payment, you’re actually paying for the retail price of the device. If you sign up for the TalkMore28 plan, you’ll need to pay more than the retail price. That said, of course the payment will be credited back to your monthly bill, over 5-month period that is. If you’re a Maxis One Club member or have been a Maxis Postpaid customer for over a year, you’ll be given a waiver for the advancement payment. With all these older generation iPhone being offered at a lower price, do we smell the iPhone 5 launch in the near future? Yes, we do.
