If you’ve fallen in love with the Firefox Mobile operating system which was leaked a couple of months ago, here’s a piece of good news, Mozilla has recently released a simulator that allows you to try out the company’s take at a mobile operating system developed using HTML5. Available for the public, you can install the add-on file to your Firefox browser on your desktop and instantly try it out without having to install it onto a physical phone.

It’s still very new of course, and everything we can test out on the simulator is nothing you’ve never seen before. The Firefox OS is not something made to take over the mobile market, not yet at least, for now, Mozilla’s main target is emerging markets. The company is currently conducting research in Brazil to find out how middle-class in the country uses their mobile phones so they can cater the experience to their needs.

There are already some apps available in Mozilla’s marketplace and with this simulator, the company hopes to attract new developers. Firefox OS is expected to be launched in 2013 and the company has already contacted several mobile manufacturers.

Download the file at this link. Once you’re done, drag and drop it onto your Firefox browser and start the simulator. If you’re too lazy to do all those, hit he break for some screenshots we took.
